About Nal 4 America!
Hello!
Well to cut to the chase my name is Nalini and I’m very boring. I’ve been involved with history for a while. I mean, I always liked it, but I didnt discover I was actually passionate about it until I had a very good history teacher in high school who thought I was good at it and I should take a historical trip and an AP test on it. So I did. The trip changed my life really. I went to DC, not for the first time, but it was a very indept look at the United States government system. I learned so much in a short period of time and I slept for two days when I came home(my dad would wake me up because he thought I needed food). When I woke up I decided that I wanted to do something with history in my life but I didnt know what. Taking the AP test really helped me to learn intricate details about early American history and our government system. From this I was able to write a pretty good letter to our state senator about my issues with smoking and the government supporting such habits with taxpayer dollars. Not only did I become a non-smoking advocate (it was short lived…I dont preach the word anymore) but I earned my self a telephone call from our State Senator Bob Bennett. He was very impressed with my 16 year old concerns. I got invited to a non-smoking sit in at the Capitol. It was all very exciting. Anyway I’m waaaaaaaaaaay off point…..
Prior to all this I had been writing a book about a mixed up teen aged girl. It was set in the post civil war time period; my favorite time period at the time. I decided to change the enter concept of that book into an entire series modeled similarly to books that Gilbert Morris or John Jakes would write; a series about a family set in historical events through American history.
I wrote a series set in the Civil War time period but after those 8 books were finished I decided to go further(hey, my parents never let us leave the house, I had a lot of free time) and start from the beginnings. So I started my series from the time of the pilgrims. Once I got that far back, I decided to go further. So in reality there are two series of books. The first series that I write about is actually the second series. I decided to put the second series out first because I think its better done and its how I originally wrote them. So the first series starts with a story about two people who travel to America on the Mayflower. The second series, which is actually the first(why cant I make things easy?) is the story of that family prior to America. I know this all seems REALLY interesting and the fact that you are still reading is beyond bizarre. I dont have a fantastic story line thats going to turn into a mini series like John Jakes does(well I am still crossing my fingers) but my goal is to write a very historically accurate fiction. Its a hard concept to do, which is why its taken me 12 years to write over 30 books. But its what I enjoy, its my passion. Its the one thing that I know I can do well. So I’m going to share with the world for the first time what I have been scribbling in numerous notepads for the past 12 years. One day I hope I can find an editor to read this and say, wow this could be a book if you just did this…..so feel free to criticize. Any feedback is good feedback. And thanks Todd for believing that I might have something here. You are the driving force behind this being public. You are the real pilgrim that rocks!
XOXO
