This Day in History, 1919

The Paris Peace Conference, which ended WWI started today in history in 1919.  Woodrow Wilson of the United States, David Lloyd Georgeof Britain , and George Clemenceauof France were the big men in charge of this event.  Representatives from Germany and Russia were not allowed to attend the conference.  The conference was lengthy, lasting six months!  In the end, Germany was severely penalized for their wrong doings which led into WWI.  The Treaty of Versailles, Treaty of Saint-Germain, Treaty of Neuilly, Treaty of Trianon, and the Treaty of Sevres were results of the peace talks.  They would all be violated by WWII but hey, it was a great start!

This Day in History, January 22, 2003

On this day in 2003 the United Nations determined that there was never any link between Saddam Hussein, Iraq, and al-Qaida.  Unfortunatley, I found that many websites that have this information are no longer up and running….how odd, I hope that doesnt happen to me!

I did find this quote though… ““Nothing has come to our notice that would indicate links between Iraq and al-Qaida,” said Michael Chandler, the committee’s chief investigator.

This Day in History, January 21st, its a Penis Party!

Me and Pierre

Two interesting incidents involving men’s gentiles seem to rock the boat this day in history.  On January 21st, 1994, Lorena Bobbitt decided that her husband didnt need to live “privately,” any longer  This crazy woman decided to chop her husband’s penis off on this day 15 years ago.  I hope it is all, “working out for him,” today.

In other penis news, Monica Lewinsky did not feel to keep, “private,” about her relationship with former President Bill Clinton (who is also my hero.  In 1998 news of the supposed, “affair  was published which the former President first denied a sexual relationship and later retracted the meaning of the term sexual relationship to mean that he never had intercourse with Lewinsky.  The scandal brought international attentional and made the Democratic party weak for the upcoming election for Al Gore.  Can I say that I really really hate Kenneth Starr????

The Speech That Held the World

Here is President Obama’s full transcript of his address.

My fellow citizens:

I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents.

So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land – a nagging fear that America’s decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.

Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many.

They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America – they will be met. On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.

We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted – for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things – some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.

For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life.

For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth.

For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn. Time and again these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live a better life. They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction.

This is the journey we continue today. We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions – that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.

For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act – not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology’s wonders to raise health care’s quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age. All this we can do. And all this we will do.

Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions – who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose, and necessity to courage.

What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them – that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works – whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. And those of us who manage the public’s dollars will be held to account – to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day – because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.

Nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill. Its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched, but this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control – and that a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous. The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our Gross Domestic Product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart – not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.

As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our Founding Fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience’s sake. And so to all other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once more.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

We are the keepers of this legacy. Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort – even greater cooperation and understanding between nations. We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan. With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet. We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.

For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus – and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.

To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect.

To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society’s ills on the West – know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.

To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds. And to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty, we say we can no longer afford indifference to suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world’s resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.

As we consider the road that unfolds before us, we remember with humble gratitude those brave Americans who, at this very hour, patrol far-off deserts and distant mountains. They have something to tell us today, just as the fallen heroes who lie in Arlington whisper through the ages.

We honor them not only because they are guardians of our liberty, but because they embody the spirit of service; a willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves. And yet, at this moment – a moment that will define a generation – it is precisely this spirit that must inhabit us all.

For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies. It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter’s courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke, but also a parent’s willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate.

Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends – hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism – these things are old. These things are true. They have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history. What is demanded then is a return to these truths. What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility – a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task.

This is the price and the promise of citizenship.

This is the source of our confidence – the knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny.

This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed – why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent mall, and why a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.

So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America’s birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:

“Let it be told to the future world…that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive…that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet [it].”

America. In the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children’s children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God’s grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

This Day in History, January 20th

Other than our inevitable Presidential election that will take place today, this day in history also has some other events that already have become history rather than new history.

Today in 1981 52 U.S. diplomats that were held hostage were released.  If anyone has ever seen any type of footage from the diplomats you must have a good stomach and a forgiving heart.  The Iranians that held these American people were less than generous, throwing out any type of Geneva Convention codes that we hold and condem our leaders to.  They were vicious, holding these people for 444 days.  This was a crucial moment for President Jimmy Carter and a triumph in the Arab world against the Americans which cost him the next election the the popular Ronald Regan. While everyone attests thar Ronald Regan was great I have giant doubts about his ability to lead this country and if he even did anything that was worth wild other than cause another Recession that was caused by, once again, Republican Radicals.

Journalist Robert Kaplanargues that those who believe relations between the two countries “will never be restored because of the hostage crisis …. ignore history,” and compares the hostage taking to a 19th century Iranian attack on the Russian embassy.  I do not agree with Kaplan, I think it is a cheap excuse, anything can be fixed with diplomacy, and if someone doesnt believe that then, in my book, they are firmly, Un-American.

Who is Dumber? Ann Coulter or Bill O’Reilly, Let me Know!

Ann Coulter, Dumbest Person Ever? Apparently Dumber than Bill-O, and That’s Saying a lot!

Published by nal4america under Uncategorized Edit This

I have tried to stay out of the conservative media because I just run into stupid theories.  But I couldn’t help but come across these dummies during this Presidential Election.  And there were two people that shinned very brightly on me, talk show host Bill O’Reilly and super dumb ass Ann Coulter.  However, while they both share the same conservative, “passion,” I have to admit one at least projects some form of knowledge but chooses to beat down anyone that says otherwise, while the other is just a plain dummy, and almost a Nazi, in my opinion.

Bill-O, gosh, you have a great track record.  And I am going to give you some props.  While, I dont believe in anything or I dont believe anything you say, at least you dont sound like a dumb ass and you do listen to opposition and dont outright say that liberals or anyone of different opinion of you are evil.  I do have some respect for you I just dont like the way you think that everyone is beneath you and you are the loudest person in the room. Gosh, I’d love to challenge you to an actual intelligent debate.  I never forget when you shouted down Stephen Colbert on the pronunciation of his name, seriously, is that worth yelling for, is it necessary, and most importantly, did it make you feel better?  I hope id did because you looked like an f-ing jack ass.

As for Ann, you just plain are a jack ass.  What you said about the women who’s husbands have died in the 9/11 terrorists attack, F-U.  Okay, this is what you said.  You think those, “broads,” are making money and celebrity status off of the deaths of their husbands.  While this may be true, its none of your business how anyone makes their money.  Hell you make your money off of telling bull-crap garbage that you know you’re smarter than saying but you do it for the money.  No one is as dumb as you Ann, you just cater to that agenda.  We know you cant be serious.  If you are, then you are one sick puppy.  If not, you are funnier than Stehpen Colbert.  But not so much that you said that to those women, your response was you want to hear that from someone you can respond to.  I’m sorry, but I think you did respond to them, did someone stop you or did you serve some jail time?  Did I miss something?  You said it with all that you possibly had and it is because it is your right.  Just like these women have a right to speak out on behalf of their dead husbands.  Shame on you for even suggesting that you have a clue as to what their personal lives are like.  How would you know that their husbands may have wanted to divorce them?  Just because you never made it to the alter doesnt mean that it has anything to do with what they stand for.  We as a nation have a right to speak out against personal injustices.  If you are such a political pundit(which is a term I despise so it suits you) then you would understand it that it totally American to take your own tragedy and turn it into good rather than grieve over it and never let go.  These women embody what America truly stands for and I know you know that so get off your fucking conservative wacky agenda propaganda to make money and be a real American.

Bush’s “Legacy” Let’s see what he left us with….

No one hates W. more than I do.  I have never liked him from day one   I thought he was riding in on some kind of Bush dynasty glory.  Its hard for me because I am a Florida resident and generally liked our former Governor, Jeb Bush.  I thought Jeb was much more clear in mind and not as self serving as Big Brother Bush.  I also thought that Jeb could speak Spanish better than W. could speak English.  I write this entry with an honest feeling heart hoping that somehow maybe Bill O’Reilly or Crazy Ann Coulter may learn something.  But….probably not.

W. was sworn into office on January 20th, 2001 after a controversial win.  Bush is the first president to ever been selected by the Supreme Court.  I am glad that Al Gore didnt keep harping on that one.  While he did, I think Al did us all a favor by sticking to his work with global warming.  Bush leaves his office with the worst approval rating of an exiting President since the polls were established (which I think is during FDR’s precidencybutI cant be certain.  Oh someone please remind me to write about Ann Coulter comparing Bushwacked to FDR).  Al Gore has launched several companies dedicated to the environment and energy conservation as well as winning an academy award and a Nobel peace prize.  It is nice to see that the same set of values that got him on the Clinton ticket for a VP running mate in the first place still stuck with him after his life in public service.

Dubya’s first executive orders seemed to serve to a more conservative base.  This is okay in my book because I think all bases need to be served.  It has nothing to do with me so it doesntbother me.  President Bush.  He created the White House Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives within the Executive Office of the President (that’s a mouthful!).  It’s suppose to protect, equip, and empowerfaith based and community based programs within the United States.   So, so far, so good.

In June he signed the biggest tax relief program to have hit our pockets in the past twenty years(at the time).  The Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 will allocate 1.35 trillion dollars in over eleven years.  I remembered that moment.  I got a check from the government for $35, which I have never cashed to this day.

I wont go into too many details over September 11th because I feel the event is too exploited by people who wish to profit over a huge tragedy.  However, I thought that the President’s leadership during the crisis was the greatest display of an American President during the worst tragedy to ever hit the continental United States.  He sure did make us all feel better.  I dont know when was the last time our country was more together.  We as a nation came together during a crisis.  It was the best way to turn our grief into a positive movement.

On October 7th Bush made the announcement that we were going to kick some Taliban ass.  “Peace and freedom will prevail.” was a remark that he made.  Right move Bush, I am so with you up to this point.

On October 26th Bush signed the Patriot Act into law in an effort to find and pursue terrorists.  However, many critics (like me) feel that the Act infringes upon citizens civil liberties.  If you havent read it please click on the link and read it before making a judgment call.

The following January Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act into law, raising the bar, standards, and funding for public schools.  While I think it is a great concept I think the ideas have been abandoned and standardized testing should not be a way for our children to learn.  One of my great political leaders, Ted Kennedy, helped to co-write the Act that seems like a failure and is in need of major reform.

March 19th, I always remember this day well because it was the day after my birthday.  I will have you know that I thought this entire thing was crazy from the beginning.  Bush decided it was time to apply, “decisive force,” in Iraq under the idea that Iraq was harboring nuclear weapons.

May ist, 2003, Mission Accomplished.  I really have nothing good to say about this so Im just not going to.  I am basing most of my information from CNN.  It is so amazing as to how much stuff CNN is leaving out about the war in Iraq and Saddam Hussein.  There is no mention of the missing WMD (a term which I think is stupid).  Why arent they talking about the stuff that makes him so unpopular both at home and across the world?  You cant imagine how much Bush hate is out there, its pretty scary to know that he has been our world figure-head for so long.

May 27th 2003 Bush signs a bill allocating $15 billion dollars to Africa for AIDS relief. Red was huge! :)   Good move!

December 8th, Medicare.  Another touchy subject for me.  I interpret it as a bunch of federal money because of a bunch of lies.  David M. Walker, former Comp Controller General stated about the act, “…probably the most fiscally irresponsible piece of legislation since the 1960s… because we promise way more than we can afford to keep.”

Another November 2nd.  Bush beats Kerry.  When I talked to people about this, the main reason why people voted for him was because they felt that he makes America safe.  I dont understand this logic, since Septemer 11th happened on his watch.  He is praised for never letting something like that happen again.  It happened, it shouldnt have.  I didnt happen again because it wasnt suppose to happen in the first place.  Others voted for Bush because of his lower tax plans.  Let’s see where lower taxes has gotten us today.  The largest defecit in history.  But people voted for it so they get what they ask for I suppose.

Katrina, Bush says he was sucessful with his, “prompt,” response during the crisis.  This one is a toss up.

A Giant Fence, that will work!  Bush signs into law a 700 mile fence to help keep illegal immigrants out.  I dont think a fence is going to solve it.  Let’s look at it this way, say someone in Canada goes on to monster.com and gets a job in the United States.  They are sponsored to come to work in the US by their employer and get here legally.  This is okay.  So let’s say that the employers of agricultural companies that supply several illegals jobs in this country, why dont they do the same thing for these people? Give them sponsorship to work here.  Do people think they are coming to this country, risking their life, going away from their families and home land to sit around the couch and watch Oprah?  They are coming here for WORK people, if there wasnt jobs offered to them they wouldnt get here and be able to take advantage of the system.  Fix the problem where the broken part starts.  Sheesh.

November 7th, 2006, the Dems take control and Rumsfeld, the guy that got everything wrong in the first place resigns.  That guy deserves to go to jail.

In January 07 Bush decided to send more troops to Iraq.  He had to.  He created such an offensive that our troops who are suppose to be protecting Iraqis, arent even safe anymore.  We need to protect our troops, I get that.  Why arent we out of there then????

Scooter LIbby, he caused a national security breech by ousting CIA intelligence officers.  Bush lets him have a fine and two years of probation, instead of he creep just going to jail.

Prisoners get tortured by the CIA, hey, that’s okay!  Bush, Bush, Bush, not only did Abu-Ghraib happen on your watch, which CNN kindly removed from your timeline (remember, the Americans that were torturing prisoners in Afghanistan?  I thought we were suppose to be a nation above that?) he set executive orders up so that the CIA can waltz around things that the Geneva Convention prohibited.  The Fourth Revision of the Geneva Convention was created because there was a bad bad man named Hitler and he had a lot of bad bad friends who did a lot of bad bad things.  So I guess Bush is forgetting about that (well, maybe he never learned this, he was only average) and maybe he is just reverting.  If this doesnt sound like a crazy person then I dont know what does.

He signed some more wiretappinglaws because, God forbid we keep our inalienable rights granted to us by our founding fathers.

$700 billion!  Bush GIVES BAILOUT MONEY to BANKS!  The banks are the people that screwed us over in the first place, so yeah, let’s GIVE THEM MONEY.  My favorite example is AIG.  I had some pretty cheap car insurance when I was with 21st Century.  However, after AIG bought them over they increased my rate.  Thats right, AIG increased my rate, a person who has been victim to this financial crisis having my job eliminated this past year.  Then, the same people that want more money from me get money from the government, I am not sure I didnt see their financials, but I was paying them, AND HAS A BANQUET WITH TAX DOLLARS THE GOVERNMENT GAVE YOU????  Is there something wrong with this picture?

Show me your shoes!  One of the happy Iraqis that was, “liberated,” by Bush threw his shoes at him and yelled a couple of insults out.  I guess the proof is in the pudding there  YOU’RE NOT WELCOME.

Bush, like the man with the shoes, I cant wait for you to leave.  Thanks for eight years of some pretty damn funny dumb stuff, your funny speeches, but most of all, thank you for ruining our country so much that Americans decided that it was their time to make a difference.  Maybe you will go down in history as a hero among men, a hero among men with deep pockets.  Also he’s the guy that lost Bin laden.

A quote from Bush.

“There’s an old saying in Tennessee — I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.” —Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

Long LIve America!
